Situated in Enfield, north east London on the Tottenham Hale branch of the Lea Valley Lines, Brimsdown station is in Zone 5. There are trains every half an hour southbound to London Liverpool Street via Hackney Downs - taking just over 20 minutes - and two trains per hour northbound to Hertford East.
Brimsdown station opened in 1884, coinciding with the height of the area's market-gardening industry. Large amounts of land, with glasshouses spread over several hundred acres, were given over to growing flowers and salad, mainly tomatoes and cucumbers, to be sold in London. Nowadays, it's a classic outer north London suburb with the area to the west of the railway lines mainly residential and the other side, between the railway and the River Lee Navigation, mainly industrial and retail parks. Junction 25 of the M25 is 3.5 miles to the north.
